VALLEY OF THE COMMONS

Valley of the Commons is a four-week pop-up village in the Austrian Alps, where people come together to imagine and rehearse life beyond extractive systems. Rooted at commons hub and held by forests, mountains, and open skies, the village becomes a living commons—shared in work and study, in making and care, in governance and everyday life. Through conversations, workshops, residencies, and collective experiments, participants explore new ways of organizing economy, housing, technology, and decision-making in service of collective flourishing.

This is not a conference, but a slow unfolding. Mornings trace shared thematic paths—commons, future living, cosmo-local production, decentralized funding and governance—while afternoons open into self-organized sessions, collaborations, and quiet time. Life happens in between: shared meals, long hikes, fire circles, and late-night conversations under alpine stars. Valley of the Commons is a test of permanence—a temporary village asking what it would take to stay, and taking its first steps toward making that future real.
